The Festival of the Moving Image is an annual student film festival held at the Roxie Theatre. As a member of Emerge Studio I was tasked with creating the advertising and possible merchandise for the event. The client dictated that the design should be “fun, upbeat and visually stunning,” and if possible, have a “Muybridge -esque” feel. The poster was viewed by both the general student body as well as the art house / film-buff community and was required to appeal equally to both. I ultimately decided on a concept that would capture the kinetic energy of a still image. After all, film is simply a series of still images woven together that create the illusion of movement.
